Palhinha expected at Bayern for start of pre-season
Latest from Sky in Germany's Florian Plettenberg:
Bayern Munichs Joao Palhinha is currently expected to return to Munich on Sunday for the start of pre-season, according to Sky in Germany.
Reports that he is due to be at Aston Villa today are believed to be wide of the mark.
Your Site News understands Villa have an interest in Palhinha if Bayern would be open to another loan, while Benfica and Sporting are also keen on the midfielder.
According to Sky in Germany, Bayern have not reached an agreement with another club for Palhinha at this stage.
The German champions are pushing for a sale rather than another loan.
Sky in Germany are reporting that Villa and Benfica are Palhinha's most concrete options at this stage.
Watt set to leave Motherwell amid advanced talks with Samsunspor
Motherwell are in advanced talks to sell Elliot Watt as new manager Alfred Johansson navigates an injury crisis ahead of their European opener.
Watt is the subject of serious interest from Samsunspor after an impressive debut campaign in Lanarkshire.
The Turkish club claimed this week that the midfielder had already agreed personal terms and that they were close to agreeing a fee after six weeks of negotiations.
Johansson said: When something is confirmed then we will communicate through our channels but there is no point in hiding there are advanced talks and a lot of interest in Elliot.
Ederson extends Atalanta stay
Manchester United target Ederson has signed a new contract with Serie A side Atalanta.
United had agreed a fee and personal terms to bring in the midfielder but the deal stalled following his late call-up to Brazils World Cup squad.
The Red Devils subsequently signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, and Ederson has now extended his stay in Italy.
The former Cruzeiro and Corinthians player joined Atalanta in 2022 and has made 180 appearances across all competitions, scoring 16 goals.
Rooney: Guardiola the only alternative option out there for England
Wayne Rooney believes Thomas Tuchel should remain as England manager unless the FA can bring in Pep Guardiola.
An inquest is under way after the two-time European Championship runners-up spurned the chance to reach a second ever mens World Cup final with their semi-final collapse against rivals Argentina.
Tuchels position has been widely criticised for his decision-making in Wednesdays 2-1 loss as England retreated and lost in a manner that became all too familiar on the big occasions under Sir Gareth Southgate.
Your Site News understands the FA are not consideringThomas Tuchel's position and as of now, he is set to be in charge for Euro 2028 after signing a two-year contract extension before the World Cup.
Former England skipper Rooney believes Tuchel should be kept on unless ex-Manchester City boss Guardiola, somebody the governing body had spoken to previously, would come in.
I dont see anyone else out there at the minute, unless you go and get Pep Guardiola, Rooney said on the Wayne Rooney Show. If Pep is available, then maybe you go and get him.
I think he is a top-class manager and what the top managers do, they learn from the mistakes and they improve and get better.
If we sack him, what managers are we going to bring in? And I dont think theres anyone out there whos as good as Thomas Tuchel, unless Guardiola.
But the big thing for me is hes not experienced at World Cups. We had the exact same with (Fabio) Capello.
The World Cup is different and you need to feel that environment and now hes felt it.
