Brighton closing in on Svoboda signing

Latest from Your Site News' Elliot Cook:

Brighton are closing in on the signing of Venezia and Austria defender Michael Svoboda.

The Premier League club's agreed to activate the player's release clause in his contract of around 4m, Your Site News understands.

The 27-year-old will be hoping to win his fifth international cap later today with his country facing Argentina in the World Cup.

It's understood personal terms won't be a problem.

Diomande has the traits to succeed at Liverpool, says Carra

Your Site' Jamie Carragher believes Yan Diomande possesses similar traits to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane amid links to Liverpool.

Liverpoolare among a number of clubs interested in the Ivory Coast winger, and have indicated they are prepared to pay up to 86m.

RB Leipzig would be open to selling Yan Diomande for an estimated fee of  112m [130m], Your Site News understands.

"I thought he was fantastic in the first game of the World Cup. Less so in the second game, but still was a real danger," Carragher said.

"I think what you'd be buying is potential. It's not what he is right now. He's a 19-year-old kid. He's a young man.

"But when you look at him physically, he looks like he's got all those attributes.

"You think of the success Liverpool have had in the past with powerful, quick, wide men.

"You think of [Mohamed] Salah and Sadio Mane, especially those two.

"He certainly looks like he's got those type of traits. That's a big thing that Liverpool lacked last season, pace in those wide areas.

"They've already got a signing in now from Spain, from Osasuna, Victor Munoz.

"Maybe they want a little bit of pace on the other side as well. I think it's pretty obvious where Liverpool were lacking last season.

"That looks like where they're going in the market. But is he worth it? Time will tell. As I said, Liverpool spent big last summer.

"Right now,  a year on, we probably would say those players don't look worth it."

Real want to exercise their option with a view to potentially selling Paz, who has emerged as one of Europe's brightest young prospects.

Real Madrid would like Como to buy Paz for 52m (60m) in a deal which would give them an 69m (80m) buy-back option.

However, Como are not happy with that arrangement, as they had not planned to spend more money on Paz.

Initially, it had looked like Paz would spend another season at Como and Real would exercise the buy-back next summer.

Como are hoping to lean on the player's desire to stay and play under Cesc Fabregas for another season when they meet with Los Blancos.
