Tonali: There was only ever one club
Sandro Tonali says there was only one club he wanted to join after his record move to Tottenham.
The midfielder joined from Newcastle for 100m on Monday and had attracted interest from other Premier League clubs, including Manchester City.
He told the club's official website: "I'm very happy to be here. When I arrived at the club, it felt fantastic. People said about there being four or five clubs - there was only one.
"I spoke to the head coach for close to two hours about the club, the fans, the stadium and our football. It was like magic because I knew immediately that I had to sign for Tottenham.
"I've played against Tottenham a few times and always found a great atmosphere made by great fans. I can't wait to start the season."
Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi added: "Sandro is a special player and a great signing for our club. I have followed him for a long time, as he came through the youth system at my hometown club, Brescia, and I'm so happy to be working with him now.
"Given his qualities, there was a lot of interest in Sandro this summer. However, he was very clear in his desire to join Tottenham, and I know our fans will love what he brings to the team."
He also posted an emotional farewell message to Newcastle on his Instagram page ahead of the move being confirmed.

Why Glasner's move is controversial for Palace - as Forest do not mention Eagles by name
Oliver Glasner's move to the City Ground comes amid previous tensions between Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
Both indirectly went head to head for a place in last season's Europa League, with UEFA eventually ruling Forest would enter the second-tier competition at the expense of Palace.
The south London club were excluded due to previous co-owner John Textor holding a controlling interest in Lyon.
The outcome led to Palace fans holding up a graphic banner about Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis during their 1-1 Premier League draw at Selhurst Park on August 24.
Palace were charged with misconduct by the Football Association.
Despite their demotion to the Conference League, Glasner led the club to European glory with a 1-0 final win over Rayo Vallecano in May.
The victory means the Eagles will be playing in the Europa League next season, while Forest are without European football.
And perhaps tellingly, Nottingham Forest did not mention Crystal Palace by name in their statement announcing Glasner's arrival.
His previous clubs Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt were mentioned, as were his accomplishments at Selhurst Park - but not the club directly.
Glasner, Marinakis claim 'shared vision' led to appointment
Both Oliver Glasner and Evangelos Marinakis have spoken of a 'shared vision' for Nottingham Forest after the Austrian was appointed as the club's new head coach.
Glasner told the club's official website: Im delighted to join Nottingham Forest as head coach. From my very first conversations with the owner and the leadership team, it was evident to me that they have a clear vision for this football club and complete trust and belief in me and my staff to build a strong future together over the long term. That trust and shared commitment, together with the potential that I see within the squad, were key factors for me and I am excited about what we can achieve together.
Nottingham Forest is a club with incredible prestige and history, a two-time European Champion with one of the most passionate fan bases in football. Our aim is to build a team that can help take the club to the next level in the years ahead and that our supporters can be proud of.
My immediate focus is on meeting the players and staff and getting to work as we begin pre-season. Im excited for the future and will work tirelessly to represent this great club with pride and to bring success on the pitch. I cant wait to get started.
The Forest owner added: "In our discussions with Oliver, it was clear that we share the same vision, the same ambition and the same relentless desire to succeed. He has consistently demonstrated throughout his career that he can build outstanding teams and deliver success against the strongest competition.
"It has always been our goal to establish Nottingham Forest once again among the leading clubs in England and Europe. Our ambition is not simply to compete our ambition is to win, to challenge for major honours and to create a football club that our supporters can be proud of for many years to come.
"Oliver is a winner. He has earned success through his leadership, his personality and the style of football his teams play. We believe he is the right person to lead us into this next chapter, and I am delighted to welcome Oliver to the club.
Nottingham Forest appoint Glasner as head coach
Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Oliver Glasner as their new head coach.
He has signed a deal after he left Crystal Palace in the summer.
Glasner is Forest's fourth new manager since September, after Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Vitor Pereira.
The latter was relived of his duties last week after Forest triggered a mutual termination clause in the Portuguese's deal, which ran out on June 30.
Pereira later released a statement confirming his departure, saying he was taken by "complete surprise" adding the news had come "without any warning".
Newcastle interest in Stuttgart's Stiller
Newcastle have identified Germany and Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller as the ideal candidate to strengthen their midfield, according to German outlet Bild.
The Magpies are set to lose Sandro Tonali to Spurs, with Anthony Gordon having already departed for Barcelona this summer. Bruno Guimaraes is also attracting interest.
Stiller has two years left to run on his deal, and also has admirers elsewhere in Europe.
