Jesus succeeds Roberto Martinez, who stepped down following Portugal's World Cup exit at the hands of rivals Spain.
The 71-year-old managed Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr where the pair won the Saudi Pro League title last season.
Rangers interested in Devlin following Hearts exit
Rangers are interested in a move for Cammy Devlin, Your Site News understands.
The midfielder, 28, impressed under Derek McInnes at Tynecastle Park.
However, his five-year stay at the Edinburgh club is over after he failed to agree a new deal.
Lawrence Shankland left Hearts and joined McInnes at Ibrox, and Australian international Devlin could now follow.
Rangers have been in talks over deals for other midfielders including Tromsos Jens Hjert-Dahl and Partizan Belgrade captain Vanja Dragojevic.
They have made five additions so far this summer, with Ross McCrorie, Ivan Pandur, Ben Godfrey, Dan Neil and Shankland joining.

Odense BK have agreed a fee of just over 1m for Aberdeen winger Topi Keskinen.
The Finland international has now been given permission to speak to the Danish club to agree terms undergo a medical.
The Dons signed Keskinen two years ago from HJK Helsinki for 800,000.
They knocked back a number of bids for him last month and were not actively looking to sell - but it's understood they see this as a good deal financially for the club.

Dinos Mavropanos is attracting interest from multiple Premier League sides and clubs across Europe following an impressive individual campaign at West Ham.
Arsenal are admirers of Mavropanos and have an interest in their former player, but it should be noted they currently have William Saliba, Cristhian Mosquera and Ben White as right-footed centre-halves in the squad.
Mavropanos, who is contracted to West Ham until 2028, made seven Premier League appearances for Arsenal after joining the club in 2018.
Benitez: Fans will rally around Iraola
Former Reds manager Rafael Benitez thinks Andoni Iraola is a good fit for Liverpool and is convinced he can thrive at Anfield.
Benitez, who won the Champions League as Liverpool manager in 2005, was speaking exclusively Your Site News reporter Tim Thornton.
"Iraola, I think has done really well in Bournemouth and now he has a different challenge.
"It is a massive club, but I think he has an advantage - he knows the league.
"The fans will be very supportive, for sure.
"The way that he wants to play - I think they like that and I think he has great possibilities to do well."
Mourinho starts work as Real Madrid boss
Jose Mourinho has started work in his second stint as Real Madrid head coach.
The Portuguese signed a three-year contract with Real earlier this summer.
This second stint comes 13 years after his first spell in charge of Real Madrid ended.
During that initial spell in charge, Mourinho spent three years in Madrid, winning LaLiga with a record points total, as well as the Copa del Rey and Supercopa.

Football CEO Edwards to leave Liverpool
Michael Edwards is leaving his role as Liverpool's CEO of Football.
Edwards is set to leave Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and the Reds imminently "prior to the start of Liverpool FCs pre-season preparations."
The American was in his second stint at Liverpool during which he oversaw the club's football operation. Following his return to FSG as CEO of Football in 2024, his responsibilities expanded beyond Liverpool to include supporting the groups broader football strategy.
Edwards first joined Liverpool in 2011, initially as Performance Director before becoming Sporting Director.
It has been a privilege to return to Fenway Sports Group and Liverpool Football Club at such an important moment, Edwards said.
I leave believing Liverpool is in a strong position, with outstanding people, a clear direction and the foundations in place for continued success.
FSG President Mike Gordon added: "Michael has made an extraordinary contribution to Liverpool Football Club and Fenway Sports Group throughout his time with our organization. When Michael returned in 2024, he did so at a pivotal moment for Liverpool, embracing a broader leadership role across our football interests in the process.
"His return to the organization saw Liverpool successfully navigate a significant period of transition before securing the clubs historic 20th English league title, an achievement to which Michael made an important contribution.

Duran becomes Celtic's first summer signing
Celtic have made striker Camilo Duran their first new summer signing in a deal worth around 6m.
The 24-year-old emerged as a priority target for the Hoops following a standout season with Qarabag, where he impressed both domestically and in the Champions League.
Duran, who joined the Azerbaijan club from Portuguese side Portimonense, scored 15 goals last season, with five of them in Europe's elite club competition.
